Thank you Trina for taking time to listen. The more of us who get out there and speak our mind and just be…who can keep us from seeing our natural beauty.

Sometimes I question if my hair is too big, is it too much for work and should I straighten..but then I get a response like, “Girl that looks so good on you but I couldn’t do that” or “I was thinking about quiting the perm myelf”… when I hear these things I know they are compliments and I’m being self conscious for no reason. I love my nubian naturals and my relaxed heads too because at the end of the day we inspire each other to grow and learn more abour ourselves. EAch one teach one. I’m being so deep…

Nice!! Your poem really depicts the turmoil “women” face. I really like that you pointed out the internal battle of the Black woman, while letting our Euro sisters know that they too are under seige. The ultimate goal in media appears to be – the lighter, the straighter, the better. WE WILL NOT QUIETLY INTO THAT GOOD NIGHT; NOR SHALL WE STAND FOR ANOTHER HOLOCAUST!!
My battle began about a year ago, and I’m truly happy to have entered the fight!!

I read your comment about your hair not growing after four years. Do you not see/notice growth length wise? I’ve only been natural for about six months so I’m having a hard time understanding what you’re going through.

Hi Ashlee! I’ve just discovered this site and it’s nice to see someone I can relate to. My family gives me hell and some days i feel like giving up ( i have texturized a few times when I just felt to frustrated). My hair has stopped growing though ever since i’ve been natural (4 years) what am I doing wrong? my email is entropy_nine@yahoo.com. thanks again for this wonderful site
