Hey, this is a great post! I came upon this site (like the other commenter) while I was looking for a picture of beautiful, natural hair. I'm so glad I landed on it. I've been seriously considering allowing my relaxer to grow out. I did not chemically straighten my hair until I was 19, and now at 27, I'm kicking myself. I haven't had my hair fall out or anything. In fact, it's still healthy and down past my shoulders, even though I highlight it too. But it was manageable before the perm. If I wanted it straight, I could blow it out and flat iron it. Sometimes I had it braided up. So I know eventually, it'll have to go.

Love your blog! I'm going to start following it!

I think it looks great. Just had mine chopped after transitioning for 6 months too lol fortunately, my stylist did it exactly the way I wanted it done lol

There are still little relaxed ends here and there, but very few, so I'm not stressing:)

you can swim in chlorinated water by covering your hair in thick conditioner and then wearing a swimming cap. it's not very glamorous but I never have crunchy hair after the pool.

I found the glycerin (not veggie) at Walmart after a young lady posted it on her youtube video. I researched it afterwards an it seems to be just as good it just was not extracted from vegetables and it was cheaper than whole foods.

I'm lockd 5yrs. I've been seeing the 'greatness' of veggie glycerin spritz on youtube. But what are the actual benefits? Is it good for loc wearers? I just got some from Wholefoods, and I'm going to make a concoction for my locs, for moisture. Thanks!!

I've been searching all these different hair textures for different ethnics recently and I just came across this for images to look at. I don't have the 'motherland' hair either(I have native american and european blood in me) and my mom is always telling me I have the best of hair out of her and my little sister. I would think that the long curly, wavy thing I naturally have going on was really pretty and I didn't really like how nappy some girls hair was. But now that I have seen pictures of real afros and stuff, like the one you posted and other ones, I don't think they are bad. Actually, they are quite beautiful. I think that people should stop perming their hair and make do with what they have, because they can make it pretty if they try. Me? I love my hair wavy and long, it's how my hair naturally is so I don't need or don't want to make it into an afro. But they are still pretty

I typically swallow the flax seed but applying it to your scalp is definitely a good idea. I read somewhere that you can create a "flaxseed gel" for styling your hair. I've never done it but the more flax seed you can use, the better. Its great for your hair...flax seed definitely has so many benefits!
